Researching Your Past

Many people researching their family histories discover that one of their ancestors attended a “Ragged School”.Vic classroom Teacher's Desk

We do not hold historical registers of individual schoolchildren at the museum. Information on children who attended this ragged school would be kept at the London Metropolitan Archives. For information about children who attended other ragged schools, please contact the local history archive of the area where the school was located. There are, of course, many additional sources of advice and information for family history researchers, far too numerous to list here.

While we cannot provide information on specific children, we welcome individuals and family history groups to our museum so they can experience for themselves the kind of schooling their ancestors would have received.
