Do the children need to dress up in Victorian costume?

Not at all, many schools come in their uniform. However, coming in costume is something we encourage as it adds an element of fun to the day and helps children get into character. They’ll be in an authentic Victorian classroom, so why not dress the part?

When your booking is made we will send you an information pack – within this are some simple, affordable costume ideas. Just think ‘Oliver Twist’! Remember, we were a ‘ragged’ school…

Please note, we do not do dressing up at the museum. However, we do have some spare costume. For example, if you arrive with 25 pupils in costume and 5 not in costume, we would be happy to kit the 5 out if they wanted. However, dressing up 30 pupils takes a considerable amount of time!
